Aiming High CE Federation

Governance

Welcome to the federation from the Governing Body

Our two schools are unique and each are full of individual character.  Our diverse Governing Body represents the school in both faith, culture and ethnicity.

Whilst each school operates individually and independently, they share staff, ideas, and opportunities for the children; many of the children across both schools already know each other as neighbours and friends or family members, which supports the sense of community across the schools.

During the pandemic, we worked together to support the children and community and we want to thank you for your help in making this work to ensure that we could provide the best education for the children in difficult circumstances. It also gave us the chance to see that working together had so many benefits for the children and the whole school community. We had more than two years rehearsing the schools becoming a federation, tweaking the plans and working out what seems best for the children. We are still making minor changes but the children are our main concern.

We have both been involved with one of the schools for a long time and recognise the strengths and any weaknesses in the school we know best.

The children still have the same teachers and support on a daily basis but with staff from either school working alongside on a specific area of the curriculum to support and widen expertise across the schools.  Children may visit the other school to play a match against a team; some have been on a joint trip to Ghyll Head and others are going on a trip to a farm. The experiences of the children have widened. The staff also support each other in many ways.

The Federation has already been seen to be positive as All Saints achieved Good in our recent Ofsted inspection in 2022 due to the hard work of all the staff. The introduction of Read, Write Inc was eased due to the expertise of the staff at Armitage already using the scheme.  At the last Ofsted inspection in 2019, Armitage achieved a judgement of Outstanding.

With Parent Café now running at both schools we hope to bring together more activities for parents and carers to become involved with together as we are one community, wanting the best for our children.

The Federation gives us more flexibility and opportunity to provide all the children with the best education that we can provide and with your support and input much can be achieved.

If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact either school or ourselves.
